Scope of Position:

Provide leadership, expertise, and practical support for the environmental process/program for the Sullivan Park campus. Manage environmental policies, standards and processes, aligned with GES strategy, to strive for continuous improvement and sustainable performance. This role requires working within a complex R&D structure at a site and corporate level. The work involves areas of local, regional, and corporate regulations and compliance. The role includes interfacing with GES, Legal, WPS, and external regulators. Role involves working in a matrix organization structure with site stakeholders/businesses, peers, and GES to drive for solutions in cooperation with facility operations, engineering and technology resources.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Supports the S&T/Sullivan Park sites with Environmental Policy and Guidelines.

• Monitors the effective implementation of appropriate Environmental System procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in legislation and company directives.

• Routinely interfaces with GES on site activities and programs.

• Assists EIG with new process development and manufacturing related to work at the Sullivan Park campus.

• Manages all site related environmental permits and changes related air, water, waste, and regulated chemicals.

• Conducts & supports environmental assessments both internal and external.

• Takes part in root cause analysis / incident investigation.

• Carries out analysis of ECIs/near misses/incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans.

• Provides technical support to S&T/Sullivan Park management on any environmental related subjects.

• Supports any in-house environmental training / improvements.

• Liaises between S&T/Sullivan Park stakeholders and regulators on environmental related issues.

• Provide environmental related input into new/renovation projects, equipment design, and process development projects (MOC).

• Member of and participates on the Process Hazard Review Board (PHRB) process and SP Crisis Management team

• Focuses on the professional development of site EH&S personnel. Directly involved in the hire, release, review, performance evaluations, and development process.

 

Travel Requirements: < 5% domestic and international.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Standard business hours; Monday – Friday, and as necessary in evenings and weekends to support global operation and emergency situations

 

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Engineering or equivalent with additional professional qualifications in EH&S.

Required Years and Area of Experience:

10 or above years’ experience in Safety and Environment management.

• Experience in a supervisory or lead environmental role.

• Working knowledge in Environment Management Systems, Environmental Discharges, Environmental Permitting, Incident Command System.

• Experience with ISO 14001:2015 program/management.
