Purpose of the Position:

  • Do you love new technology? You will be leading all finance related activities for our portfolio of emerging innovations programs.
  • Are your interpersonal skills such that you are open, engaging, and positive? You will partner with program leaders to develop go to market strategies.
  • Developing a keen understanding of program strategy and success drivers to be able communicate those to senior finance leaders for decision-making
  • Ensuring we deliver reliable financial analytics and business case modeling including “What if” scenarios to our program and division leadership
  • Leading finance related M&A and investment activities
  • Establishing strong working relationship with our centralized corporate functions and external consultants
  • Ensuring compliance to Corning’s internal controls and strengthen controls for equity investments

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Do you dream of being a CFO? This role will give you that experience as you support and consult with our program team(s) in all finance and accounting related questions.
  • You will demonstrate your strong analytical and critical thinking skills while engaging in our M&A activities. This may include deal negotiations, writing or reviewing of investment proposals, preparation of senior leadership reviews, due diligent work, review of legal agreement, and integration activities
  • Partnering with non-finance professionals including program managers, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and research and development executives
  • Actively participating in program strategy discussions
  • Providing ad-hoc and ongoing decision support to EIG leadership by performing, cost- benefit analysis, sensitivity analysis and scenario modeling
  • Performing or leading financial modeling activities and incorporate market forecasts, cost analysis, capital analysis, and competitive intelligence analysis
  • Calculating, tracking, and discussing key financial metrics including ROIC, NPV, IRR, Sales/Capital ratio, and others
  • Applying your skills in critical thinking to ensure financial success for the program
  • Participating and leading our executive program reviews
  • Tracking, reviewing, and forecasting our program spend and working closely with the team to ensure budget expectations are met
  • You will take ownership of forecast / budget preparation
  • Acting as out Corning representative to external equity investment partners or joint ventures
  • Developing and leading finance professionals and collaborating with shared services and other corporate finance functions to ensure excellent finance support for EIG programs

Working hours are Monday – Friday typically 40+ hours per week but you should have flexibility to work nights or weekends as needed to accommodate teammates in other time zones.

Travel: There could be up to 25% travel with this role

We have minimal travel expectations for you in this role.

Education and Experience Required:

MBA with 10+ years in a senior Financial Manager role

Required Skills:

Do you have a strong financial background with traditional cost accounting experience? Use your advanced analytical and quantitative skills to support our innovations. If you have excellent written and oral presentation skills, are a good listener with strong inter-personnel skills, we want to talk to you. You will get to use your strong ability to develop influential relationships with our internal and external business leaders.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in a start-up company
  • Merger and acquisition (M&A) experience preferred
