Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

 

Scope of Position

As an intern, you can expect he following:

  • Intern will be working directly with engineers, technicians, and leaders on real technical challenges and objectives.
  • The intern will work on automated equipment and robotics designed for material handling of CET products.
  • The goal of the program is to bring the candidate into a project team, and work with that team to develop and execute experimentation on product line equipment. There will be ample opportunity for hands-on learning, and the excitement of learning something new.
  • The candidate should have a strong technical curiosity, and aptitude towards process engineering and automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • The intern accepted for this position will work directly with the CET Finishing Measurements and Inspection Project Leaders.
  • Multiple challenges will be given to the team of engineers and technicians, which the team will have to organize and design an approach to resolve the challenges.  
  • The Corning team will work with the intern to conduct testing on equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
  • The intern will be trained on how to get tasks completed in a development and production environment.
  • Expectations include reporting activity and results on a regular basis, and an overall program review at the end of the summer.

Requirements

  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location

Education and Experience

  • Enrolled in Undergraduate or Graduate Level Program in Engineering: Chemical, Physics, Mechanical, or Optics (strong inclination towards optics – vision systems, etc)
  • Background in computer programs like Halcon, Matrox Vision Library, AutoCad, MatLab, etc.
  • Experience with the application of Design Of Experiment (DOE) methodology is preferred.
  • Aptitude for measurement, characterization, or development of metrology design.
  • Any experience in ceramic substrates and filters is not required, but preferred.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation (e.g. sensors) and vision systems technologies is beneficial.

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
