Scope of Position:

Process technician within the Diesel Manufacturing Firing Engineering Department involved with supporting capacity and cost reduction initiatives. Technician role requires interaction with Engineering and Manufacturing personnel to achieve project objectives, data collection/mining, preliminary data analysis and general operations and experimentation support. 

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide coverage during experiments
  • Mining plant systems for data, organizing and analyzing the data
  • Ware inspection for defects, tracking and logistics
  • Using Excel and/or other tools (Jmp, Minitab, Tableau, etc) for data analysis
  • Experiment logistics and experiment execution
  • Lead smaller process improvement projects
  • Equipment/process/EHS audits and calibrations
  • Creation and / or maintenance of department documentation
  • Interface with Firing equipment as needed (including but not limited to TC cars, thermocouples, kiln furniture, kiln burners, etc.)
  • Provide scheduling and / or ware ordering support where needed

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Anticipate all work being in the Corning Valley.  No travel anticipated;

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Generally 40 hrs. per week, but must be flexible. There will be times where off shift and weekend hours are required in order to support weekend team, experimentation and implementation of projects.

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 year Associate Degree in a technical field desired
  • 0-3 years’ experience in technical/manufacturing
  • Strong work ethic and desire to exceed expectations
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Technically curious, self-motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills, rigorous attention to detail and ability to deal with complexity
  • Able to manage multiple priorities at once.
  • Ability to monitor and execute designed experiments
  • Some equipment / process aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and characterize key process drivers.
  • Able to work with data and communicate results from data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word)
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written)

 

Desired Skills:

  • 2 year Associate Degree in a technical field desired
  • Process engineering technician experience
  • Prior ceramic substrate/filter manufacturing experience
  • Manufacturing plant experience - successful applicant needs to be able to interact with operators and key receivers.

The range for this position is $49,191.00 - $67,638.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
