Scope of Position:

The technician role consists of on-shift technical support focusing on equipment uptime in the Forming Department. This individual will utilize SOS data, equipment walkthroughs, and other process data to help drive equipment stability. The technician will perform first level equipment and equipment process troubleshooting. This role will work closely with on-shift trades electricians and mechanics along with second level support when needed. Assist the on-shift Forming team leader with production related needs related to equipment, process issues, and operational needs.

 

Day to Day technical responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains process for equipment checks
  • Identify actions and items to check and work on
    • Establishing a walkthrough of production equipment, LPAs, record tracking, record keeping in a data base
  • Provide on-shift technical support
  • Works closely with on-shift trades team trouble-shooting equipment downtime
    • Post work notes, route cause and help drive resolution
  • Work closely with various support groups within the plant
  • Manage work orders and equipment concerns brought to Forming team leader and the area mechanical lead
    • Interact with Maximo work order system
  • Assist with trades to perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment
  • General production support when needed
  • Working with team leader, mechanical lead and area owner with safety related equipment issues
  • Make recommendations of improvements to operations and mechanical teams to drive continuous improvements to increase overall line overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)

 

Day to Day operational responsibilities

  • Fill in for on-shift team leader during vacations and/or training
    • Conduct pre-shift meeting, setup roster for shift, schedule shift overtime, and manage line throughout shift

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • 40+hours; 8hr. shifts supporting 24/7 production
  • Potential for 12hr. shift coverage as needed

 

Education and Experience:

  • 2-year technical degree in mechanical or electrical preferred
    • Will consider experienced candidates with demonstrated skills and work experience, (8-10 years of work experience)
  • Minimum 1+ years of operational/ mechanical/ electrical technician experience with demonstrated success of analyzing data and applying data to find solutions.

  • Broad engineering understanding (process, equipment, control)
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing and maintenance systems
  • Disciplined problem solving and hands on troubleshooting skills
  • Leadership – Providing direction to production personnel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and technical curiosity

 

Desired Skills:

  • Flexible, adaptable and willing to work outside of role to move the team forward
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Managements systems (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of PI process book
  • Mechanical aptitude and or Electrical aptitude
  • Dependable, highly motivated self-starter with ability to work with minimal direction across multiple functional areas
