Scope of Position: This intern position is an opportunity to gain valuable experience working hands-on in a laboratory setting testing glass. Our intern will be responsible to lead and support the following: design and execute mechanical experiments, conduct basic failure mode analysis, imaging/scanning, data analysis, author reports, trouble-shoot equipment, adhere to safety/5S guidelines. Additionally, you may be requested to assist with system level testing or demo support. This intern reports to a Technology Manager.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Reliability Testing (Mechanical, Optical)
  • Data Analysis
  • Experimentation (As Required)
  • Training
  • Process Documentation
  • Safety/5S Inspections and Audits
  • Project Support


Travel Requirements: Less than 10%- occasional to business/plant locations for business meetings and recruiting events.


Education & Experience:

  • Advanced classes in ceramic engineer/glass science and preferably experience working with mechanical testing of glass.
  • Basic understanding of Material Science; preferably experience in mechanical testing of glass.
  • good computer skills, statistical skills and leadership skills (verbal and written communications,

  • Process engineering (statistical and analytical) skills
  • Experience in conducting mechanical testing of glass.
  • Equipment (mechanical, electrical) skills

  • Fractography courses and/or experience
  • Previous experience testing glass to failure in a lab setting and executing experiments
