Why this role

Corning's materials science is behind the glass, optics and ceramics in technology people use every day. Our plants make that possible, and our people make our plants possible. As HR Coordinator for EMC, you'll be the go-to people partner for the site. You'll be the first face new hires meet, the person employees trust with their questions, and the analyst who turns workforce data into insight for plant and division leaders.

Kicking off a HR career, you rarely get exposure to this many areas at once. You'll work across talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, leave and benefits, compliance, analytics and HR technology, and you'll be encouraged to responsibly use AI and automation to improve how HR works.

What you'll do

Be the site's first call for employee services

  • Act as the main point of contact for employee questions, personnel records and HR transactions, working with Corning's HR shared-services team.
  • Become the local go-to for our HR systems, including the HCM, time-and-attendance, staffing and recruiting platforms. We'll train you on all of them.

Bring great people in, and set them up to succeed

  • Coordinate hiring and onboarding for hourly and salaried employees, from offer paperwork and compliance to new-hire orientation and announcements.
  • Partner with the Plant HR Manager to make sure the site has the talent it needs to deliver its strategy.

Turn workforce data into decisions

  • Build and present HR analytics (headcount, workforce trends, recognition and more) for site and division leadership.
  • Find manual processes worth automating, and use AI tools and PowerBI responsibly to make HR faster and smarter.

Take care of employees when it matters most

  • Partner with the site Medical team and our benefits administrator to manage workers' compensation, FMLA and disability cases with care and accuracy.
  • Keep the site compliant with employment laws and regulations, and help roll out global HR processes locally.

Shape the culture

  • Lead your own HR initiatives, such as attendance programs, training and employee communications, from idea to delivery.
  • Help run employee surveys, focus groups and manager conversations that show where the site can grow, and help build a "One Corning" workplace grounded in our values.

Where this role can take you

  • A full-cycle foundation in HR. In a single role you'll see the whole employee lifecycle in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
  • Visibility with leaders. You'll present data and recommendations to site and division leadership.
  • Modern HR skills. You'll get hands-on experience with people analytics, HR technology and responsible use of AI.
  • Room to grow. This role builds the experience that often leads to HR Business Partner, Talent Acquisition, People Analytics or HR Operations roles across Corning's global network.
  • Mentorship and development from an experienced plant HR team, plus Corning's learning resources.

What you bring

  • A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, Psychology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year of HR or administrative experience. Internships, co-ops and relevant campus roles count.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, and comfort working with data to draw and communicate conclusions.
  • Sound judgment and discretion with confidential employee information.
  • Approachable, responsive communication. You build trust with employees on the floor and leaders in the office.

Bonus points

  • Experience with PowerBI, Access or other reporting tools.
  • You've used AI tools to streamline or automate a process, and you can tell us how.
  • Exposure to HRIS / HCM systems, leave administration or manufacturing environments.
  • A process-improvement mindset (Lean, Six Sigma or plain curiosity about doing things better).
  • Basic business and financial acumen.
