The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Scope of Position: The qualified candidate will provide leadership and direction for an IT organization and initiatives of diverse scope across laboratory environments, early stage business and manufacturing, essential IP knowledge management, and associated data and modeling environments. Candidate will promote professional growth and development and create a safe and positive work environment that fosters innovation. Subject matter knowledge combined with leadership and supervisory skills are required to develop competency and capabilities to deliver robust services for a leading innovation company. Highly desirable are (i) technical expertise in computer science and related fields, and (ii) interest as well as experience in project leadership/management.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Build rapport across Corning’s IT, functional organizations and all lines of businesses
  • Leverage mature IT Service Lines to advance innovation services and capabilities.
  • Manage effectively across numerous organizations including IT Service Management and Service Delivery to ensure quality customer experience.
  • Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and performance standards.
  • Exert influence in the development of IT’s strategy, service direction and investments.
  • Shape and integrate IT services and processes to serve the technology community.
  • Retain and recruit team members who have core technical competencies to execute projects and innovative products.
  • Work with Corning’s R&D product managers to provide direction for product development, early stage product testing, assisting in IP development.
  • Drive execution of technology programs within area of responsibility using rigor and scientific methods.
  • Champion talent management objectives including performance feedback, development plans, rewards and recognition.
  • Identify organizational gaps (skills and capabilities) and propose remediation plans.
  • Build effective interdisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

Travel Requirements: <25% (domestic and international)

Required Education: MS in Computer Science or related Science/Engineering field Required Years and Area of Experience: 15+ years
