The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

 

Scope of Position:

The primary responsibility of the intern will be to assist in the Digital Delivery Platform Engineering team. You will assist in creating, deploying and own technologies that enable and empower your peer scientists, engineers, and developers to manufacture things that matter. The Platform Engineering team experiments with the latest technologies, to constantly learn and expand their skills, and to use those skills in ever-changing ways. Intern will get an opportunity learn advanced analytics data engineering patterns, pipelines orchestration, data modelling techniques and most importantly ability to provide solutions for business problems through analytics POV’s.

Responsibilities:

  • Align existing application portfolio to cloud standards and services
  • Be a highly motivated and active contributor across multiple work streams and manage deliveries accordingly across multiple projects
  • Evaluate new technologies, services, and products
  • Participate actively in team discussions, daily standups, periodic demos and retrospective assist in developing, testing and deploying big-data analytics pipelines using established
  • Participate in citizen developer activities

 

Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled in B.S. or M.S. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Information Systems program
  • Course work completed to include Programming languages like Python, AWS, Java
  • Relevant experience a plus
  • Passion for DevOps culture and methods

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong programming skills in Python, Pyspark, Spark SQL or Scala
  • Familiarity with Public Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
  • Ability to collaborate with other teams across the company, defining technology roadmaps, sharing experiences and lessons learned for continuous improvement
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Process-oriented with great documentation skills
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

Hours of work / work schedule / flex-time

  • Basic work hours are 40hrs/week; 8am-5pm

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
