Corning is embarking on a multi-year digital transformation strategy to create innovative digital solutions for business divisions and functions and data is a core component of that initiative. We are looking for passionate, hard-working, and talented staff-level leaders to drive Corning to maximize the value of its data and become a more data-driven company. Role Summary: The primary responsibility of the analyst will be to ensure that the data needed for an effective and accurate SAP implementation is defined, standardized, governed, and managed via the appropriate processes. The analyst will work with the various Corning divisions to document the data needed by the core SAP processes and build out of the overall data dictionary and ongoing data maintenance processes that will be used to support multiple SAP deployments and data migrations. The analyst will also partner with data management teams to align the use of master data in core SAP processes as well as align additional process data governance into the overall data management framework.


Roles & Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities of this position are related to the process and delivery of master data solutions and standards through the implementation and support of SAP’s Master Data Governance product suite Some of the specific responsibilities of this role include:

  • Work with business process owners, data owners, data stewards and users/analysts across the company to implement businesses processes and governance to create, change, and distribute, or to consolidate master data across your enterprise
  • Guide the business in their understanding of master data and systems to ensure clarity of process and system design
  • Facilitate sessions to define workflows, approvals, and standards related to master data elements or attributes
  • Lead with differing audiences: Technical focused, combination Technical and Non-technical, and varying levels of Leadership
  • Translate/ present functional and non-functional requirements to appropriate teams
  • In collaboration with subject matter experts and data stewards, defines and implements data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure the enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable.
  • Develop data profiling and cleansing scripts that identify, remediate, and store cleansed data
  • Build data quality dashboards to monitor and manage the enterprise data quality from multiple data sources and system
  • Participate in activities to improve and sustain effective data governance resulting in improved quality and consistency of data used to drive key business decisions.
  • Ensures master data integrity in key systems as well as maintaining the processes to support the data quality.
  • Ensures quality of master data in key systems, as well as, development and documentation of processes with other functional data owners to support ongoing maintenance and data integrity.
  • Identifies areas for data quality improvements and helps to resolve data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies.
  • Aid in resolving data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) and data stewards.
  • Manages, analyzes, and resolves data initiative issues and manages revisions needed to best meet internal and customer requirements while adhering to published data standards.
  • Assists in data management, governance, and data quality of master data requirements with other functional data owners to ensure functional master data integrity across the operation of financial systems is consistent and meets stated business rules and requirements.
  • Work closely with the business/IT to ensure alignment of master data rules and the operations of the application meet all requirements.
  • Lead configuration of processes and approval workflows for Master records to be created or changed, according to the different areas of responsibilities and business functions.
  • Define artifacts for the review of completeness and consistency of the Master Data, and audit to ensure compliance with defined financial, analytical and process requirements
  • Support development and implementation of testing scenarios
  • Define and track Key Performance Indicators to measure the effectiveness of the master data models, processes and changes implemented
  • Create quality documentation (Business Process documents, process flows, policies and procedures, strategies, etc.)
  • Partner in developing and implementing end user training and materials for internal associates and all field locations.


Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, data management, engineering, or equivalent experience.


Work Experience:  

  • 7+ years’ experience in data analysis or computer programming.
  • 3+ years’ experience in SAP FI/CO, MM, BP; SAP MDG experience a plus
  • 3+ years’ experience in business analysis or requirements facilitation
  • Experience working with relational databases.
  • Experience with SAP EIM Solutions, Data Services and Information Steward preferred
  • Experience in master data strategies, processes, and governance including definition of data types, functional views, attributes, fields values, status, etc.
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and produce complex data evaluation and recommendations using tools such as Microsoft Excel (pivot tables,) and/or Access
  • Experience providing a consolidated view of data for analysis and decision-making purposes
  • Expertise in SQL and ability to query data efficiently
  • Participated, contributed, and delivered systems implementations as a Process Owner or Subject Matter Experts in the master data domain
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement
  • Comfort working in an agile development lifecycle and tools such as Jira Rally, and Trello
  • Experience working with 3rd party system integrators or implementation partners

  • Effective communicator, facilitator, and presenter in formal and informal settings
  • Knowledge and experience on master data architecture, infrastructure architecture, development and integration.
  • Very deep understanding of various business data domains (e.g. Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales and Supply-chain)
