Scope of Position:

Purpose of this position is to provide statistical engineering support to drive improved technical understanding in related process and product quality improvements, and development of new products and processes.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Use data to help solve problems and trouble shoot production issues.
  • Develop, test, and validate empirical and fundamentally based statistical models using Design of Experiments (DOE) and regression techniques.
  • Utilize DOE concepts both in design, execution, and analysis of experiments.
  • Examine historical data and draw conclusions/inferences that benefit manufacturing.
  • Integrate experiment key learning’s into production and validate results.
  • Use Six Sigma DMAIC principles in executing project objectives.
  • Provide manufacturing and associated quality systems statistical expertise and support on projects and as required in manufacturing.
  • Conduct Measurement Systems Analyses (MSAs) for measurement equipment.
  • Develop, execute and analyze manufacturing capability studies and provide leadership recommendations toward overall process/product improvements.
  • Work with large diverse teams including research, development, engineering, and manufacturing while understanding each of their respective views and concerns.
  • Communicate results to leadership concisely, so that it is understood and may be acted upon.
  • Document knowledge through Experiment Result Reports, Research Reports, and Project Summaries.

 

Projects Involved with:

  • Overall process improvement and development, in all technical areas in the environmental materials business; including die manufacturing, raw materials, materials processing, forming, drying, firing, and finishing.

 

Role within Group:

  • Statistical Engineer, Process Leader, Project Leader

 

Travel Requirements:

  • 30% travel to other CET manufacturing facilities including international – project specific.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Normal office hours are 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. with availability to flex time requirements depending on project objectives and schedules.
  • Need to be available for off-shift hours depending on project requirements.

 

Required Education and Years / Area of Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics
  • 3+ yrs. experience in manufacturing requiring statistical applications.
  • M.S/M.A. in Statistics desired.

 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to use data to help solve problems and trouble shoot production issues.
  • Ability to use statistical tools and models to quantify process behavior and output.
  • Knowledge and use of DOE.
  • Ability to analyze historical and experimental data for fundamental understanding.
  • Ability to integrate key learning’s into production.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma DMAIC principles.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems.
  • Capable of developing, executing and analyzing MSAs.
  • Knowledge of SPC.
