Purpose of Position:

This internship provides hands-on engineering experience supporting the design, development, and improvement of equipment used in the manufacturing of glass substrates for mobile consumer electronics. This role will contribute to project teams by applying engineering principles to solve challenging problems in areas such as 3D CAD modeling, design analysis, and detailed drawing generation. This role is ideal for a highly motivated student eager to learn, contribute creative solutions, and gain practical experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment focused on advanced manufacturing.

Responsabilities:

  • Work with state-of-the-art manufacturing processes for the development and production of glass substrates for use in mobile consumer electronics.
  • Work will include project and design activities including 3D CAD modeling, running design calculations, and generating detailed drawings.
  • Strong level of technical curiosity and can deliver creative solutions to technical challenges.
  • Work in a team-based environment and participate as an individual contributor.
  • Process equipment design and drawing detailing.
  • Interacting with domestic and international operation teams

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later.
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with CAD Software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD) and FEA tools (ANSYS, COMSOL).
  • Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others.

Desired Skills:

  • Technical writing, ability to deliver technical presentations to operators, engineers, and managers.
  • Innovative and technically curious, problem solving and decisions making.
  • Results oriented.
  • High commitment level.

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
