Scope/Purpose:

 

The Network Automation and Monitoring Analyst is a key member of our core platform teams and is responsible for the operational management and continually improve of automation tools and practices that ensure the overall reliability and availability of our global network. The successful candidate will work closely with the Network Service staff and ServiceNow Event Management staff on advanced analytics, automation processes and platform development.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

As a Network Automation and Monitoring Analyst, your main responsibilities will be to:

 

  • Management and operations of Solarwinds monitoring and automation services for the global network services
  • Development of standard processes and procedures for the monitoring of network hardware and software.
  • Design automated processes for implementation, security, monitoring, alerting and operations using terraform, Ansible, YAML, Python and environment-specific scripting languages
  • Developing and implementing custom Solarwinds dashboards and alerts to meet the requirements of the network team and other support teams.
  • Defining, creating, and maintaining processes required to monitor production and development environments to ensure a proactive approach for addressing alerts or problems.
  • Managing ServiceNow tickets and service requests to ensure a resolution in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Identifying and developing ways to improve and automate monitoring to gain operational efficiencies and improve responsiveness.
  • Participating in root cause analysis on incidents, helping to drive identification of preventative actions meant to ensure problems don’t recur, and delivering on the tasks within those actions
  • Participating in lifecycle management of network hardware, replacing outdated equipment, OS versions and/or configurations, and upgrading all to the latest network standards and architecture.
  • Work effectively with the network staff and operation support teams to provide training, develop guidelines and serve as a subject matter expert for the enterprise monitoring solution.
  • Define and drive team efforts to adopt and enforce service level objectives for our platforms and system deployments

 

Education, Experience, and Certifications:

 

  • 4-Year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting network devices/functions/tools/processes in an enterprise environment.

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

 

  • Experience with the following Solarwinds modules: Enterprise Operations Console, Network Performance Monitor, NetFlow Traffic Analyzer, Network Configuration Manager, Network Automation Manager, IP Address Manager, Server & Application Monitor, Network Topology Mapper
  • Experience with scripting languages/toolchain automation products such as Python, Ansible, Terraform etc.
  • Experience using other monitoring/alerting/forensic tools such Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Prime, NNMI, NetBrain

 

TRAVEL:

 

  • Up to 10% travel required, generally in North America.
  • May occasionally travel outside NA
