Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Scope of Position

Leads and participates on project teams which develop new products and new manufacturing technologies to reduce cost, increase capacity or improve process capability.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Support Plant Safety programs to provide a safe working environment.
  • Serve as a process resource for troubleshooting of production equipment and processes.
  • Lead new product introduction developing capability to meet product quality and cost objectives.
  • Develop OEE targets and project milestones to deliver.
  • Design and execute experiments; analyze data and report conclusion and recommendations.
  • Define systems and processes to drive process control and process discipline for performance and quality repeatability.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals to solve problems.
  • Work in a cross-functional environment:  link between development, quality, commercial, and manufacturing to deliver the best possible solution
  • Use of rigorous tools to deliver results including problem analysis, potential problem analysis, risk assessment, DMAIC methodology, innovation

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor or Masters of Science in Ceramic/Materials, Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing environment (can include internships and co-ops)
  • Strong fundamental understanding of basic engineering principles and the ability to solve difficult technical problems
  • Technical aptitude conducive to building proficiency in troubleshooting manufacturing processes and evaluating data
  • Ability to work with production and other engineering organization to assist in successful transition of new developments to production customers
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC project experience
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, SPC Excel, and/or Minitab or other statistical software
  • Demonstrated experience with hands-on troubleshooting of process equipment
  • Statistical analysis skill or training
  • Lean error proofing experience
  • Application of the scientific method

The range for this position is $69,791.00 - $95,963.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
