Scope of Position:

  • Support new product capability development and implementation of new products and technologies into manufacturing as part of the CET Product and Process Development organization
  • Manage experimental product through various manufacturing, inspection and storage processes
  • Work with and provide direction to operators and technical resources to execute experiments and make customer samples
  • Manage lab inventory levels and maintenance/calibration schedules
  • Monitor new product performance and make improvement recommendations
  • Data capture and reporting
  • Develop operating procedures and trouble-shooting guides for new process and products
  • Document and train to procedures and job aides

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with experts
  • Develop and update engineering and operations documentation
  • Execute and conduct preliminary analysis for experiments
  • Mine and organize data from plant and lab systems
  • Provide inputs to assess scope of work required for potential new products
  • Support design of new tooling required for new products
  • Submit line time, material transfer and special test requests as needed or provide direction to others
  • Coordinate experimental runs with operations, engineering and technical support
  • Work and collaborate with people throughout the innovation process
  • Take part in potential problem/hazard analysis for non-standard procedures and communicate instructions for safe and successful completion to team
  • Seek the input of production personnel to maintain a general awareness of problems and improvement opportunities Projects involved with:
  • Sample manufacturing
  • Scale up and integration of new products
  • Reducing manufacturing costs through select & overall OEE improvements
  • Increasing manufacturing quality, capacity, and/or capability
  • Product Quality Architecture

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Commute between local Corning-area facilities is required.
  • Less than 25% to facilities outside the Corning area including international.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40+ hours, primarily Monday – Friday 7am to 4pm, although some off-shift and weekend coverage to support projects can be expected.

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • AAS in Technical degree, or comparable experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities across work centers.

  • Equipment / process aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and characterize key process drivers
  • Handles multiple tasks effectively, while balancing priorities
  • Interacts well with production supervisors / operators, and engineering support

  • Learn new technology and processes quickly
  • Capable to monitor and execute designed experiments

  • Creative / innovative problem solving
