Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

Scope of Position

  • Support Operations Section Supervisors to achieve safety, quality, and productivity performance.
  • Development and implement work assignments for the shift to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Determines work assignments with specific instructions to meet the daily production and directs subordinates to execute assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. 
  • Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, and checking work at frequent intervals.
  • Ensures staffing is appropriate based on available personnel and needs of the department/ plant.
  • Builds effective relationships with plant support groups.
  • Maintains and enforces all safety regulations and housekeeping standards on a consistent basis.
  • Ensures completion of safety inspections and compliance with Corporate Safety elements and standards. 
  • Actively coordinates the training of new employees and refresher training with experienced employees, manages staffing rotations to maintain training certification and retains materials and records.
  • Maintains payroll and production records.
  • Enforces adherence to plant policies and procedures.
  • Manages projects as assigned, including safety improvements, process improvements, lean manufacturing, workforce development.
  • Implements corrective action related to process variations, equipment malfunctions, or operations.
  • Identifies existing materials and/or need for ordering additional materials.
  • Resolves work related or personnel issues expediently as possible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (technical degree highly preferred)  
  • 1-3 years leadership or supervisory experience
  • 1-2 years manufacturing experience 
  • Demonstrated safety leadership
  • Sound decision making and prioritization skills
  • Ability to effectively manage / motivate union employees in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the plant organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to resolve conflict
  • Ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks  
  • Ability to train, coach, and direct others
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The range for this position is $80,856.00 - $111,177.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
