Scope of Position:

Ensures that plant’s products meet customer requirements and that the plant has up to date and capable Quality systems, including all required procedures, specifications and equipment. Collaborates with the commercial organization to resolve customer complaints and to translate customer requirements into meaningful product specifications. Develops processes and systems to prevent quality problems.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Manage plant quality systems (including ISO documentation, records retention, etc.) and plant quality personnel to ensure that the plant’s products meet all customer requirements.
  • Drives development of Product Quality Architecture (PQA) systems through active collaboration with the Engineering and Operations groups.
  • Primary plant interface with global commercial organizations, with strong interactions between applications engineering and customers.
  • Serve as plant lead for the Improved Capability Process. Assesses plant capability to meet new requirements or request for specification tightening. Evaluates plant process and measurement capability versus customer requirements and provides input to cost modeling for spec changes and new product quotes.
  • Leads organization responsible for the following activities:
    • Response and corrective actions to customer complaints and issues. Serves as the customer advocate in the plant.
    • Customer quality audits of the plant. Leads corrective action teams to resolve audit deficiencies.
    • Oversee physical property testing lab services.
    • Provide statistical design and analysis services to internal plant departments
    • Managing the CAPA system.
    • Lead the plant Quality Steering Team meetings.
  • Manages department spending and budget process.
  • Leads project teams to resolve and permanently fix customer complaints.
  • Plant Quality Manager is a staff position and reports to the Plant Manager

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40+ hours per week with occasional morning and evening conference calls. This role is a member of the Plants weekend team.

 

Travel Requirements: Occasional International and Domestic business trips based on business needs

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in a Technical discipline; Engineering Degree preferred
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in a manufacturing plant.
  • Successful and proven supervisory, team leader and/or section supervisor experience in a manufacturing plant.
  • Experience with data collection and data analysis software and techniques

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at once

 

Desired Skills:

  • Performance Excellence (Six Sigma / DMAIC) Green or Black Belt.
  • Product Quality Architecture (PQA) knowledge / experience.
  • Engineering supervision.
  • ASQC (American Society of Quality Control) certification (or equivalent).
  • Member of Innovation project team or new products introduction team.
