Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Position Purpose

The Process Engineer utilizes engineering principles and data analysis to provide troubleshooting and production support to meet the process performance goals of the department. This role supervises process techs/line owners, ensuring they are effectively managing the performance of their lines, executing troubleshooting efforts and acting with urgency to address issues by priority. They monitor and analyze process data to set standard operating setpoints, identify and predict upsets and improve production processes. The Process Engineer uses scientific method and other tools including problem analysis, potential problem analysis, risk assessment, DMAIC methodology, and MEE to drive to fundamental understanding. This position supports off-hour / weekend project requirements as needed.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Materials, Industrial Engineering or related
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas and graphing functions
  • Use of the scientific method to develop, test, and prove hypotheses
  • Data analysis & statistics – ability to draw conclusions
  • Project management experience

  • Able to work across multiple functional areas
  • Knowledge of PI process book
  • Six sigma green belt

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for overall line performance, tracks performance metrics, identifies opportunities for improvement and prioritizes these efforts based on financial justification
  • Leads and participates in continuous improvement projects
  • Supports the transfer of new technology, materials, or processes from development to production as a key partner, helping to ensure the success of the targeted effort, and seamlessly integrating into production
  • Act with urgency to close out assigned projects actions by required deadlines

The range for this position is $83,750.00 - $115,156.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
