Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

 

 

Scope of Position

  • Work as part of the Engineering Department on various projects supporting the manufacturing site. The Intern will work on individual and team projects. Improve product, process and/or equipment performance (cost, quality and service).
  • Improve product, process and/or equipment performance (cost, quality and service).
  • Provide solutions for increased process selects, increased material utilization, decreased costs, and improvement to product quality by planning, organizing and implementing projects.

Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate Level Engineering program; preference for Material Science, Ceramics, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
  • To be considered for an internship at Corning Incorporated, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a Bachelor’s Degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Required Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis
  • Working knowledge or experience with design of experiments (DOE) concepts
  • Time management and ability to prioritize work
  • Excellent critical analysis, and logic/reasoning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills; ability to interact with management and team members.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Desired Skills:

  • Understanding or experience with thermodynamic principles
  • Basic understanding of ceramic sintering process
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collaboration in a multicultural environment
  • Willingness to work with your hands
  • Experience with Six Sigma DMAIC or similar principles

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
