Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

 

 

Scope of Position:

Internship within an equipment engineering organization at a manufacturing site. Intern will work with our team to plan, conduct and analyze process improvement and measurement system analysis activities. The primary role includes data collection and analysis, as well as process and system improvement activities.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Interface with process, measurements, and other manufacturing support groups on a daily basis
  • Under guidance from process and measurements, lead the agreed upon projects that will enable the facility to meet its goals and objectives for the duration of the internship
  • Prepare written evaluations of data collected for use in leadership project reviews
  • Create recommendations and/or plans to achieve the stated project goals
  • With oversight execute improvement activities identified during the agreed upon project

Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate Level Engineering program; preference Mechanical Engineering
  • To be considered for an internship at Corning Incorporated, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a Bachelor’s Degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).
  • 0-2 years of engineering and/or physical science internship experience.
  • Any manufacturing experience is a plus.

Desired Skills:

  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Organizations skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with statistical tools, Minitab a plus
  • Reliable and detail-oriented
  • Able to lead small projects of limited scope to completion
  • Technical curiosity

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
