Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

 

Scope of Position: 

  • Process technician (Product Owner) within the Forming Engineering group supporting continuous improvement, cost reduction initiatives, troubleshooting, and resolution of process and quality issues.
  • The role requires interaction with Operations, Development, and Manufacturing personnel to deliver improvements in processes or product attributes.
  • The Forming Process Tech is responsible for increasing product performance through process troubleshooting and run preparation/review, root cause analysis of defects, and development of forming process strategies.
  • Persons must be capable in analyzing conditions and data, technical troubleshooting through process, and identifying and correcting process related issues.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a process resource for troubleshooting of production processes 
  • Solve product performance issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with experts
  • Develop and update engineering and operations documentation
  • Use Excel and/or statistical software for data analysis
  • Creating plans and supporting operations for extrusion campaigns, and documenting run performance in run reviews
  • Lead and coordinate die pool management for supported products
  • Utilize root cause analysis though process to ensure sustainability of corrective actions and/or improvements to drive product performance
  • Utilize the continuous improvement mindset and tools to actively participate in identifying and correcting opportunities
  • Supports plant production needs and priorities to achieve plant goals
  • Facilitate, attend, and participate in team meetings and programs

 

 

Required Education/Skills: 

  • 2-year Associate Degree in a technical discipline 
  • Technically curious, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Learn new technology and processes quickly
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at technical problem-solving and decision-making
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

 

Desired Skills: 

  • 0-3 years’ experience in engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC project experience
  • Data analysis skills with statistical software (Excel, JMP, Minitab, etc.)
  • Manufacturing plant experience 

 

Soft Skills: 

  • Organized with good planning and time management skills
  • Manage multiple priorities at once
  • Build relationships within cross functional groups
  • Positive attitude, flexible, and strong work ethic
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Interact well with all levels within the organization

 

Work schedule/flex-time:
-    Candidate will be expected to work a 40+ hour week, arrive early/stay late as required
-    There will be times where off shift work and weekend work is required in order to support production

The range for this position is  $55,599.00   -  $76,449.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
