Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

 

 

Scope of Position:

In this role, you will be directly involved working with quality engineers in learning the ceramic manufacturing and quality assurance processes. Duties will include assisting the quality department with projects and day-to-day operation within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Our Painted Post, NY plant houses an innovative manufacturing facility working with development and production of ceramic filters and substrates for use in emissions control technology.
  • This position will interact with and learn from each key area that produces our products.
  • Gain experience within an ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 accredited facility with strong quality management systems that ensure we deliver high quality product to our customers.
  • You will gain valuable firsthand experience on the manufacturing floor and contribute towards ongoing project and process engineering activities.
  • We are looking for those with a strong level of technical curiosity and who are capable of delivering creative solutions to technical challenges.

Education & Experience:

  • Pending Junior or Senior Engineering majoring in Ceramic, Glass, Materials Science
  • Motivated self-starter with independent learning style.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing systems and experience with data analysis
    (i.e. Microsoft Excel, SPC rules)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with analytical instrumentation and laboratory inspection equipment.
  • Process engineering skills (quantitative skills, coursework in engineering, statistics, or other statistical training)
  • Technical writing with the ability to deliver technical presentations to operators, engineers, and managers.
  • We are seeking someone who is innovative and technically curious
  • Effective communication & presentation skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work on diverse project team.
  • Able to build new business relationships with the team.

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
