Scope of the Position:
We are offering a unique job opportunity to conduct research in an exciting field of next-generation Radio Technologies! This job provides a wide range of opportunities to invent and bring to realization new life-changing next-generation radio technologies for a broad range of applications – including Imaging, IoT and 6G Mobile Communications. The successful candidate will work closely with teams of outstanding Research Scientists and Engineers located at our historical state-of-art research center in Corning, NY, as well as other global locations. The successful candidate will drive research focusing on high-frequency (mmWave and THz) signal transmission/propagation and the interaction with various materials to create novel solutions for Corning’s future products. In addition, the candidate will play a key role in building new state-of-the-art laboratory capabilities for experimental investigations involving various radio technologies. He/she will be expected to generate and document relevant IP to protect key inventions related to the field of high-frequency radio technologies.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Propose, and execute research projects/activities leveraging radio technologies for various applications – including 6G mobile and THz systems
- Investigate fundamentals of and develop models for various phenomena governing interactions between various materials and high-frequency signals
- Design, implement and test high-performing devices and components for mmWave and THz applications
- Design and execute laboratory experiments for mmWave and other high-frequency technologies.
- Collaborate with other teams working on high-frequency radio technologies and drive technology transfer to various Development organizations within Corning.
Education:
- MSc. or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or related field.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 3 years industrial experience with emphasis on mmWave system design and implementation is required for MSc. degree holders. PhD degree holders without previous industrial experience are also eligible to apply.
Required Skills:
- Expert understanding of EM theory and high-frequency signal interaction with materials and components.
- Direct hands-on experience designing and fabricating high-frequency components and devices
- Ability to analyze and resolve highly complex technical problems quickly and independently.
- Familiarity with communications theory – including the propagation of mmWave and THz signals and related technologies
- Proven track record of research contributions and publications in leading and internationally recognized conferences and journal
Desired Skills:
- Working knowledge of digital signal processing techniques
- Experience with high-frequency circuit and electromagnetic (EM) simulators such as Cadence, ADS, MWO, and HFSS would be an advantage
- Previous experience in leading projects Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work with multiple teams
- Ability to work on multiple projects
Travel requirements:
- ~5 % travel - some international
Hours of work/work schedule:
- 40 hours/week, with extended hours if needed.
