  • In this role, you will work with project team members to solve difficult glass and process equipment related problems, resolve project and process related issues with glass forming, and develop an understanding of process equipment.
  • Provide input to the design and follow construction of prototype and production/ prototype process equipment, lead proof of concept and prototype experiments to validate design concept, collect and evaluate data, and make appropriate recommendations for glass processes.
  • Report on project activities, status, and issues on a periodic basis to project and department leadership.
  • You will be working in a team-based environment and must be able to participate on a highly matrixed project team to execute project assignments, with minimal supervision, at times you may work independently on experiments.
  • Setting up and run melting or forming equipment, work around glass melting furnaces and carry out experiments.
  • At times support other technology areas in Process research
  • Individual may be tasked with other post processing glass work such as flame working, acid etching & cleaning, grinding and measurements.
  • Individual requires the ability to perform glass melting and forming operations involving multiple types of furnaces and forming processes. Forming work can include delivery of molten glass into molds, downdraw of glass, hot glass extrusion, and other forming methods.



  • Minimum of AAS. Chemical, Mechanical, and/or Electrical technology experience. Experience in glass melting, forming, and/or processing is highly desired.



  • Normal Business Hours (8 – 5, M – F), however, expected to work hours required to achieve project objectives. Some weekends if project requires and some travel approx. 10%



  • Knowledgeable in glass technology
  • Self-starter who is results-oriented, possesses a high dedication level, and can meet objectives and timelines while applying sound problem solving and decision-making processes and skills



  • Glass melting and forming process experience
  • Ability to operate well in a team environment
  • Forward-looking, with knowledge of glass and ceramic manufacturing
  • Solidworks and/or AutoCAD
