Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Role Purpose

Primary focus will be providing robotic and automation support for production equipment in a fast paced and high-tech manufacturing environment.  Primary systems supported will be Fanuc robots in automation cells, including associated vision systems and other peripheral devices.  This will also involve involvement in development of new processes on existing production lines and work on new lines as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, diagnosing and resolving equipment issues as well as providing support for process/equipment improvement initiatives as necessary.  All work will be conducted safely in accordance with plant policy.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with engineering, operations and maintenance groups to understand problems and provide solutions.
  • Work utilizing plant & division electrical controls standards.  Serve as a technical resource for questions regarding deviation and interpretation as well as managing changes when resolving problems.
  • Individual must be capable of executing assignments, in a team-based environment, with minimal supervision
  • Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
    8 hr. Day Shift Monday-Friday, however, expected to work flex hours required to achieve plant objectives

Experiences/Education - Required

  • High School Dipolma or higher required 
  • 0-5 years of experience supporting electrical and control systems (will consider internship experience)
  • Technically curious and eager to learn and apply new technologies to solve technical challenges.
  • General understanding of electrical design practices, PLCs, control systems, and robotic integration.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, matrixed team environment.
  • Self-starter able to manage priorities and meet timelines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a customer-focused, results-driven approach.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience working with FANUC robots, including KAREL programming and IR Vision or other robotic vision systems.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/RIA 15.06 safety standards and applicable national and international electrical, robotic design, and safety codes.
  • Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000, machine control, and motion control systems.
  • Knowledge of control system design, programming, and systems integration, including open- and closed-loop control systems.
  • Familiarity with controls architectures, PLCs, electromechanical drive systems, robotics, part sensing, vision systems, risk assessments, and safety systems.
  • Knowledge of glass and ceramic manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial, forward-thinking mindset with an interest in emerging automation and control technologies.

The range for this position is $70,954.00 - $97,562.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
