Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Role Purpose

To plan, lead, and support projects related to equipment engineering, automation, and material handling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support business needs using mechanical engineering and automation expertise
  • Solve difficult equipment, automation & handling problems by generating creative concepts and implement as a robust solution
  • Work as member or leader in multi-functional project teams to deliver solutions on-time, on-budget, and meet performance targets
  • Create and communicate engineering recommendations supported by data
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources, including vendor/integrator management
  • Participate in all phases of projects from conception to close-out
  • Support manufacturing plants to define and implement improvements to existing equipment
  • Collect data to understand process and equipment performance
  • Prioritize safety of all personnel in Corning facilities in alignment with safety and environmental policies

Experiences/Education - Required

  • BS (MS highliy preferred) in an engineering field (preferred Mechanical Engineering)
  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience related to mechanical design and commissioning of multiple automated equipment projects including component selection, 3D modeling, debug, installation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects involving automation, robotics, and material handling
  • Influence and advocate for project direction using equipment engineering expertise, affordable automation options, and robust machine system solutions
  • Strong communication skills for both impromptu and planned presentations to stakeholders at all levels
  • Able to independently create written plans that identify project requirements and deliverables, and then drive to deliver desired results
  • Familiar with electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical components used in automated equipment
  • Able to participate in task-based risk assessment related to all aspects of automated equipment and ensure designs comply with identified solutions
  • Leadership capabilities including ability to achieve results through matrix organization with minimal supervision
  • Travel Requirements - Up to 25%: Travel should be expected, dependent on project assignments (international travel is possible)

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Proficient with SolidWorks including use of PDM vault
  • Innovative and high technical curiosity
  • Data collection and analysis using visualization tools
  • Project management experience
  • Creation and tracking of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Creation and execution of FAT/SAT procedures for automated equipment
  • Application of PEx methodologies such as KT, MEE, DMAIC, and MIE

The range for this position is $95,997.00 - $131,996.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
