CET Division Engineering Attribute group is looking for a process engineer to plan, support and lead initiatives on process and/or technology projects focusing on Shape. The process engineer will be responsible for enhancing manufacturing capabilities through the implementation of new ideas and methods. This role will ask you to apply knowledge of engineering and mathematical principles and practices to effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects. Technology areas you will support span all of the overall CET processes. This position interacts with development, engineering, manufacturing and commercial organizations.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and execute work-streams on projects to deliver improvement and step change capabilities
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and methods to resolve challenges
  • Support problem-solving in manufacturing, including root cause identification and resolution
  • Apply process engineering knowledge, skill and experience from concept through delivery of process and equipment at manufacturing locations.
  • Identify process improvement and cost reduction opportunities based on analysis of historical and process data; utilize the analytical/scientific methods to develop, test, and refute hypotheses
  • Work in a team environment with diverse groups including research, development, engineering, commercial and manufacturing while understanding each of their respective views and concerns
  • Document knowledge through experiment result reports, research reports, and project summaries
  • Support the transfer of new technology, materials, or processes from development to manufacturing
  • Collaborate with manufacturing Shape teams to support experimentation and overall capability improvement needs.


Travel Requirements:

  • Travel should be expected, dependent on project assignments.
  • International travel is possible.
  • Typical travel requirement is 25% or less.


Work Hours:

  • 40+ hours per week; Typically 8 AM to 5 PM Monday Friday, some flex time is possible to support project assignments


Education / Experience:

  • BS in an engineering discipline (ceramic, materials, or chemical preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or development


Required Skills:

  • Technical competence in process engineering
  • Experience successfully developing and delivering technical projects or process improvements into manufacturing
  • Project leadership aptitude, including ability to achieve results through matrix organization or team
  • Demonstrated results using problem-solving methodologies such as process capability analysis, statistical process control methods, model development, Six Sigma DMAIC, Lean, DOE, MSAs, PQA and the Scientific Method.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at technical problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions
  • Results oriented, high commitment and technical curiosity


Desired Skill:

  • Strong leadership skills in strategy deployment and priority setting.
  • Demonstrated results developing and delivering step change innovations to manufacturing
  • Experience analyzing large data sets using tools such as JMP, Minitab, Excel, R, OSI PI, Power BI, or Matlab
  • Champion for change and flexibility
  • Can provide and work toward a vision of continuous improvement within the organization and work with individuals and leadership to make progress toward that vision
