Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

As our Software Development Engineer in the IOX metrology development group, you will complete software development for glass stress metrology, ensuring the protection of Corning Intellectual Property (IP) used in the software, and ensuring standard methodologies with software installer setup and version control. You will have long term project dedications and potential travel.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes skills and tools, including VB, C#, WinForms, .NET, InstallShield, Software Obfuscation Tools, USB, RS-232, TCP/IP, Client-Server Networks, SQL, Revision Control (Git, SVN).
  • Assists in developing, testing and deploying optical metrology software used in contract manufacturing/finishing
  • Reviews code to find and address any security issues and optimize performance.
  • Deploys and tests techniques and technologies for preventing code reverse engineering to protect intellectual property.
  • Implements and manages software feature-based licensing

 

Travel Requirements (please note if international): You can expect travel to 10-20% including international travel

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 8-5; some flexibility available

 

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration)

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in a Software Engineering, Programming, or information technology/security related field

 

Required Skills:

  • Software Development experience with .NET languages.
  • Ability to develop test plans and manage beta testing.
  • Ability to work independently, in situations where information or understanding is lacking. Strong ability to quickly isolate issues, find the pertinent information, and apply the correct solutions.
  • Experience using and maintaining version control software.
  • Experience implementing and practicing Test-Driven development.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability and desire to independently learn new things to meet corporate and customer requirements.
  • Self-Starter. Motivated to identify problems and develop solutions independently.
  • Track record of delivering results and meeting deadlines.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with software reverse engineering, and anti-reverse engineering techniques.
  • Deep understanding of secure application development practices, including vulnerability identification and remediation, as well as proper code implementation of security concepts like authentication, authorization, and encryption.
  • Experience with CD/CI.
  • Deep understanding of statistical methods / analysis of systems.
  • Experience with packaging and deploying software across multiple Windows operating systems.
  • General knowledge of interfaces between PC’s and instrumentation (RS232, RS485, GPIB, Ethernet, etc…).
  • Highly refined communications skills, both verbal and written.

 

Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership):

  • High degree of flexibility to deal with the continually changing dynamic project landscape.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities at a time.
  • Communications with all levels of multiple organizations is important.
  • Customer interface skills are constantly put to use.
