Scope of Position: Corning’s Global Research division has a Senior Research Associate - Polymers position available at our Sullivan Park research facility in Corning, NY. This is a key role within the Organic and Biochemical Technology research department, and will report to the Research Director.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Accountable for all aspects of lab safety and adherence to Corning Values

• Conduct research in polymer blends, coatings, films, laminates, and adhesives primarily for applications in optical fiber, cable, connectivity, and automotive businesses.

• May lead project teams with scientists from Development, Engineering, and the Business units.


Travel Requirements: ~10% travel to manufacturing sites in North Carolina, Texas, and occasional travel to Europe and Asia, depending on the project scope.


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40 hr work week, Monday - Friday 8 - 5 with flex time possible


Required Education: A Ph.D. in polymer chemistry


Required Years of Experience: at least 15 years industrial experience with an emphasis on mechanistic understanding of polymer structure/property relationships.
