Scope of Position
The Sr. Software Engineer will be working in the Manufacturing Technology & Engineering organization, which is a corporate engineering project organization, with a primary focus on deploying and supporting PI data historian software along with other related applications to Corning’s global manufacturing locations. The individual will engage and guide customers to business requirements and then use those requirements to scope, budget, schedule, and deliver systems to meet the customer needs. This role will give the individual the opportunity to travel to Corning’s many manufacturing sites to learn their processes and provide solutions to meet their obstacles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM Major
- 2+ years related experience in software/operational technology project delivery in manufacturing environments
- Manufacturing data systems, such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition - SCADA, Computerized Maintenance Management Soft - CMMS, and Data Historian
- Common manufacturing protocols such as Open Platform Communication -OPC, ModBus, BACnet, etc.
- Networking fundamentals such as, the OSI model, TCP/IP model, components and devices
- Database fundamentals such as how data is stored in tables, relational database concepts, and queries

Must be available for significant travel, primarily domestic, to multiple locations to support business needs
Desired
- AVEVA PI including interfaces, AF, PI Vision, PI ODBC, and PI Integrator
- Visualization software such as Power BI or Visual KPI
- Microsoft Power Platform such as Power Apps and Power Automate
- Kepware OPC or other OPC platforms
- Maximo or other CMMS platforms
Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions including the creation of detailed work breakdown structures, planning, and execution
- Analyze requirements and performance to optimize systems configuration
- Provide contextual and technical information to manufacturing and engineering internal customers. Assist them in identifying difficult technical problems and devising solutions
- Install, modify, document, and maintain system configuration, updates and changes.
- Develop scripts and automate routine tasks
- Actively develop procedures and train peers on system operations
- Provide level three support for system including off hours as required
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.

The range for this position is $85,606.00 - $117,708.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
