Role Purpose

Lead and oversee environmental assessments, identifying compliance risks, systemic gaps, and mitigation strategies to prevent non-compliant conditions and acts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for environmental management systems, leading the implementation, optimization, and long-term sustainability of ISO 14001 programs across facilities.
  • Proactively evaluate emerging environmental regulations, industry standards, and corporate requirements; assess business impacts and lead implementation strategies at affected facilities.
  • Provide advanced interpretation of environmental regulations and permit requirements, advising facilities and leadership on compliance strategy and risk management.
  • Analyze complex environmental data sets and performance metrics to identify trends, develop insights, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with operating facilities to establish, track, and achieve short-term (annual) and long-term (3–5 year) environmental performance goals.
  • Design, deliver, and oversee environmental training programs, ensuring facilities maintain compliance and alignment with company policy and best practices.
  • Lead preparation, review, and submittal of environmental permits, reports, and regulatory documentation.
  • Plan and lead regulatory and corporate audits, inspections, due diligence activities, and investigations, including engagement with regulatory agencies as appropriate.
  • Lead root cause analyses and corrective action planning for environmental incidents, non-conformances, and audit findings; verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Manage and provide technical oversight for environmental remediation projects, coordinating internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective execution.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to entry-level environmental engineers and other team members.
  • Contribute to the development of corporate environmental policies, standards, and best practices.

Required Education

  • Strong working knowledge of local, national, and international environmental regulations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) required; Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred or actively pursuing
  • Demonstrated experience leading environmental compliance initiatives and projects

Desired Experiences

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, and/or environmental consulting
  • Experience with ISO 14001 system leadership and multi-site implementation
  • Experience interfacing directly with regulatory agencies

The range for this position is $88,484.00 - $121,666.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
