Scope of Role:

  • This role will lead the strategic procurement activities for the software category
  • The role will work closely with various IT stakeholders often at the executive level.
  • Should be able to conduct negotiations independently or with minimum supervision with major IT vendors.

Position Description:

  • Lead the strategic sourcing activity related to IT software category
  • Monitor latest category market trends to ensure fundamental understanding of industry trends
  • Support Implementation / Execution of Global IT Sourcing strategy.
  • Demonstrate a digital mindset and actively participate in digitization initiatives within the Global Supplier Management function.
  • Analyze and understand category spend.
  • Understand IT software vendor landscape and capabilities of key vendors. Must display thorough understanding of Cloud Delivery models, SaaS, PaaS, on-prem licensing and software audits.
  • Negotiate effectively with quick turnaround to achieve greatest value for Corning.
  • Support the implementation and continued advocating of a strong Supplier Management process to ensure good supplier relations and strong SLAs with suppliers with a focus on service quality and reliability, responsiveness, service delivery and cycle time improvement. Leadership resolving any supplier service issues.
  • Investigate opportunities for synergies and rationalization of other legacy IT suppliers / systems
  • Must have a strong focus on cost reduction targets and be able to build an opportunity pipeline for cost savings/avoidance
  • Have deep understanding of RFX processes and be able to conduct e-auctions when applicable
  • Ensure compliance to Corporate policies and procedures with suppliers (i.e. Data Privacy / Safe Harbor, Information Protection, Ethics Policy, Buying Policy, Code of Conduct, etc.).
  • Participate in on-going development and implementation of world-class Procurement practices and procedures

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain or I.T.
  • MBA Preferred
  • 10+ years of software procurement experience in a large publicly traded company.

Travel Requirements:

  • 15-20% including international
