Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Scope of Position

  • Support capability development and implementation of new products and technologies into manufacturing as part of the CET Division Engineering organization
  • Support critical division projects including new product development, manufacturing process improvements, cost reduction, capacity increases, variability reduction and quality improvement.
  • Manage experimental product through various manufacturing, inspection and storage processes
  • Interact with development, engineering, and manufacturing resources to execute experiments and make customer samples
  • Monitor new product & process performance and make improvement recommendations
  • Data capture and reporting
  • Develop operating procedures and trouble-shooting guides for new process and products
  • Document and train to procedures and job aides

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Shift coverage for experiments on manufacturing and development assets
  • Ware tracking, characterization, inspection, and measurement
  • Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with experts
  • Develop and update engineering and operations documentation
  • Execute and conduct preliminary analysis for experiments
  • Mine and organize data from plant and lab systems
  • Support design of new tooling required for new products
  • Submit line time, material transfer and special test requests as needed or provide direction to others
  • Use of Excel and JMP for preliminary data analysis
  • Development and execution of experiments designed to drive at root cause or understanding of process issues.
  • Assist in logistics of batching, shipment and testing of materials and ware.
  • Commute between local Corning-area facilities is required.  Infrequent to facilities outside the Corning area including international.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • AAS in Technical degree, or comparable experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities across work centers.
  • Strong logistics & organization skills
  • Equipment / process aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and characterize key process drivers
  • Handles multiple tasks effectively, while balancing priorities
  • Interacts well with production supervisors / operators, and engineering support
  • Effectively communicates requirements, directions, and issues
  • Technically curious, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Learn new technology and processes quickly
  • Capable to monitor and execute designed experiments
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Creative / innovative problem solving

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Development or manufacturing experience
  • Familiar with CET processes and facilities
  • Manufacturing plant experience

The range for this position is $48,506.00 - $66,697.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
