Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):

As our summer intern, you will work in the Corning Research and Development Corporation performing groundbreaking research in Thin Films and Surfaces group. This internship will afford you opportunities to work experiments in ink formulation, inkjet print process, ink-surface interactions and surface modifications.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Literature search
  • Carry out experiments
  • Characterization of results and analyzing results
  • Presentations
  • Participation in the group discussion
  • Getting new ideas

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 8 hours per day

 

Travel: We do not expect any travel

 

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration):

  • Pursing a Master's Degree in Materials Science / Engineering (including Mechanical or Industrial Engineering) / Chemistry / Physics
  • Strong preference for a PhD candidate

 

Required Skills:

  • Hands on experience in inkjet printing of functional materials, Materials evaluation for printing, surface modification, substrate composition for image quality and durability, understanding of surface-ink interactions, print process parameters
  • Experience in Labview, MatLab
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and use of common instrumentation
  • Experience with software packages such as DynoChem, MATLAB, JMP, and CAD programs
  • Deep knowledge of the principles of Design of Experiments and statistical analysis
  • Strong communications skills - excellent written and verbal
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities at a time while meeting expected deadlines.
