Role Purpose


Support Corning’s Emerging Innovations Group by providing hands-on electro-mechanical support for advanced manufacturing equipment and processes used in the production of innovative glass-based products, including double, triple, and quad insulated glass units.

Provide technical support for equipment operation, integration, maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, and continuous improvement while partnering closely with engineers, operators, and project teams to accelerate technology development, manufacturing readiness, and commercialization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve automated manufacturing equipment used in insulated glass unit production
• Support HEGLA glass cutting systems, Glaston panel assembly equipment, automated material handling systems, vacuum and pneumatic glass handling equipment, and related manufacturing utilities
• Diagnose and resolve equipment issues involving Siemens PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, motion control systems, pneumatics, and industrial networks
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment performance and reliability
• Support installation, startup, commissioning, validation, and integration of new equipment and manufacturing technologies
• Partner with engineers on root cause investigations, corrective actions, equipment modifications, controls upgrades, and process improvement initiatives
• Maintain equipment documentation, maintenance records, spare parts inventories, and technical procedures while supporting safety, quality, and operational excellence initiatives

Experiences/Education - Required

• Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment in an industrial environment
• Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting capabilities
• Experience with Siemens PLCs, preferably Siemens S7, Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC HMI systems, Profinet communications, servo drives, motion control systems, AC/DC motors and motor controls, pneumatic and vacuum systems, and industrial sensors and instrumentation
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation
• Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting tools

Experiences/Education - Desired

• Experience supporting HEGLA and/or Glaston equipment
• Experience in glass manufacturing, architectural glass, IGU fabrication, or fenestration industries
• Knowledge of automated glass cutting, panel assembly, and glass handling processes
• Experience working in pilot manufacturing, process development, engineering labs, or technology commercialization environments
• Familiarity with robotics, machine vision systems, and advanced automation technologies
• Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Continuous Improvement experience

The range for this position is $59,283.00 - $81,515.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
