Role Purpose

The HR Consultant supports the Plant HR team to ensure that the plant establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s values and proactively addressing employee concerns, fostering open communication, and promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity. Assists in successful implementation of global HR business processes within the plant. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Takes ownership for specific HR initiatives that support the effective operations of the organization by developing and/or delivering HR programs (e.g. training, communications).
  • Identifies employee value proposition issues affecting turnover and works with Plant HR Manager to identify actions for improvement.
  • Partners with leadership to develop and execute action plans that improve engagement, communication, and overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Establishes and maintains a presence on the plant floor to keep a read on the pulse of the organization.
  • Manages and mitigates employee concerns by ensuring supervisors and leadership are creating an open forum for discussion and resolution of plant issues.
  • Resolves employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that protects the needs of the plant to operate in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Coaches and counsels plant management in development and demonstration of leadership and management practices required to establish and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Utilizes employee feedback to drive continuous improvement in employee retention and engagement.
  • Leads initiatives that enhance the employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee involvement, and recognition.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (Human Resources, Business, Organization Development, or Labor Relations preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience (generalist/specialist, manufacturing experience preferred)
  • Successful track record in the deployment of global HR business processes or programs.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and policies.

  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, processes, and employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing HR documents, records, and data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, handle sensitive situations, and build relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations related to HR administration and recordkeeping.

The range for this position is $79,519.00 - $109,339.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
