Role Purpose
The Senior Business Analyst (Finance) is responsible for supporting financial close, reporting, compliance, planning, and analysis activities for the division/entity. This role ensures compliance with local regulations, GAAP accounting principles, and Corning policies and procedures. The position leads and supports monthly and periodic close processes, including voucher preparation/posting and general ledger accuracy, and delivers timely, accurate financial reporting and analysis to division management.
This role also supports budgeting and long-range planning activities and partners with business leaders to monitor financial performance, analyze variances, control costs, and identify opportunities for process improvement. As a senior analyst, this position is expected to work with greater independence, manage more complex analyses, and provide guidance within cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly business financial consolidation and reporting activities.
- Support and execute period-end close processes, including preparation and posting of vouchers.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and related financial records.
- Prepare and deliver required financial reports accurately and on time.
- Monitor division financial performance and communicate results to division management.
- Analyze actual results versus plan/forecast and highlight variances requiring corrective action.
- Partner with department managers to monitor spending and control costs.
- Research and provide detailed explanations for expense variances and other financial fluctuations.
- Provide financial analysis for capital projects, strategic investments, cost reduction initiatives, and other ad hoc business needs.
- Support development of annual budgets and five-year financial plans for the division.
- Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, tools, and reporting.
- Coordinate financial close and reporting activities with business partners and corporate finance teams as needed.
- Support internal control compliance, including Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and testing requirements.
- Assist with internal and external audit activities and help ensure high-quality audit outcomes.
- Provide guidance and financial insight on moderately complex business issues and support cross-functional problem solving.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in financial reporting, analysis, accounting, budgeting, or close processes.
- Experience working on cross-functional teams to solve complex business problems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage assignments independently and handle moderately complex financial analysis.
Preferred Education and Experience
- CPA and/or CMA certification.
- MBA.
- Experience in manufacturing and/or cost accounting.
- Experience supporting division or plant finance operations in manufacturing environment
Required Skills
- Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to identify, investigate, and explain financial variances.
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles (GAAP) and financial statements.
- Understanding of local accounting and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to support monthly close and financial reporting processes with accuracy and timeliness.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Desired Skills
- Working knowledge of financial systems such as PeopleSoft, SAP, FAR, MES, Khalix, PeopleSoft Procurement, and PeopleSoft Supply Chain.
- Strong understanding of general ledger systems and close processes, including voucher preparation.
- Experience improving finance processes and reporting efficiency.
- Ability to translate financial data into meaningful business insights for management.
- Customer focused, with the ability to build strong relationships and respond effectively to business needs.
- Organizational agility, with the ability to navigate cross-functional environments and secure appropriate resources and support.

M-F, 40 hour work week with additional hours as needed.

The range for this position is $79,709.00 - $109,600.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
