Role Purpose

The Buyer is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted production by proactively managing the flow of materials into the facility. This role serves as the operational link between planning, production, quality, and suppliers—executing purchasing strategies, maintaining accurate material availability, and resolving issues that could impact production schedules. The Buyer supports organizational goals by optimizing inventory levels, strengthening supplier performance, and driving continuous improvement across procurement and materials management processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Order and maintain adequate material volume on-site in advance of production according to upcoming supply schedule 
  • Release purchase orders to support upcoming planned production, work in process and finished products inventory levels  
  • Support and provide direction regarding material availability or limitations against inventory/productions plans and develop action plans 
  • Gather necessary resources to address action items and follow up on all material shortage-related issues 
  • Actively interact with manufacturing, quality, planning, warehousing & transportation to solve material issues & react to consumption patterns 
  • Follow up on quality issues to and find a resolution with supplier and internal team 
  • Support the development and implementation of commodity strategies within area of responsibility 
  • Frequent data maintenance of parts, vendor, and quality documentation 
  • Measure and report supplier scorecard for supplier success 
  • Drive for standardization and continuous improvement of processes 
  • Communicate/ elevate issues as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Effective demonstration of interpersonal and team facilitation skills that are customer oriented  
  • Adaptability-able to work in a fast- paced high growth dynamic environment. Ability to rapidly pivot to respond to new challenges and variety. 
  • Capable of strategic cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, Procurement, Quality and Customer Service to ensure team alignment and to execute strategic planning initiatives  
  • Strong technical skills around data management, analytics, data processing and problem solving & project management skills  
  • Strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail  Able to effectively interact with all levels of management  
  • Be highly “process driven” and continuously improve the supply chain, planning, scheduling, and materials management  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate ideas and expectations  

 

Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times 
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities

The range for this position is $60,410.00 - $83,065.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
