Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of the position: We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer for our plant based in Pontchateau (France). The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing machines and site equipment, keeping them available, reliable, and safe. He will also lead continuous improvement projects and engineering projects, define specifications of projects and track budget. Act as Maintenance Engineer including supervision to the team as needed.


  • Analyse of defects and breakdowns
  • Leading of preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Definition of specifications for external service companies
  • Request and analyse of quotations
  • Purchase requests and approval
  • Dealing with external companies, writing and signing prevention plans, hot work permits, etc
  • Ensuring work is performed in adequation with technical requirements and safety regulations
  • Internal communications on ongoing works and projects
  • Keeping records of external companies work reports
  • Leading improvement projects and engineering projects (including the definition of project scope and project specifications)
  • Analyse regulatory controls reports and trigger of corrective actions
  • There is no direct management involved as the team is managed by the maintenance manager. The Maintenance Engineer will act as a back up of the plant maintenance manager.

Required skills:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Maintenance / Engineering
  • 5 - 8 years experience in maintenance and engineering project management
  • Electricity, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC, HVAC, fire protection, building structure
  • Experience in team management
  • Good communication and team work skills
  • Good analysis skills
  • Good spoken and written French
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (word/excel/power point/outlook)
