Overview:
This role will be part of the Process Engineering team within Corning’s Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering (MTE) division, supporting Corning’s existing and emerging businesses. The position is based in Hanoi, Vietnam, and requires flexibility to travel.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Understand manufacturing requirements, design and develop processes, demonstrate process feasibility and capability, finalize process concept and specification.
- Take part in and/or lead on problem solving, process fundamental understanding and improvement.
- Collect process data from designed experiment, pilot run and production, and conduct basic data analysis.
- Design/conduct experimentation and pilot run as for whole manufacturing alternatives.
- Measure and communicate process metrics, such as cycle time, yield and scrap rate, and figure-out effective process strategies to meet or exceed established objectives.
- Collaborate with engineering, production and quality teams to deliver validation SOP/SOS.
- Participate or lead process root-cause analysis through leveraging cross-functional teams, and build-up corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Provide training and guidance for new or existing whole manufacturing systems, such as newly designed processes, updated execution procedures & equipment to secure effective implementation and operation.
- Execute routine work assigned by project leaders and supervisors as to be an active team-member.
Projects involved with:
- Employing process engineering/ integration knowledges to resolve happening process issues and minimize/eliminate existing defects, even for further process reliability/repeatability improvements and total Mfg. yield enhancement; also design effective whole manufacturing processes and/or keystone components of those processes for new businesses & adjacencies to enable Corning technology transferring and/or manufacturing expansions.
- Early identification and engagement on critical process programs, with focus on providing novel solution paths to establish and or improve whole manufacturing processes.
- Development of processes that significantly improve whole manufacturing effectiveness & efficiency.
- Projects could support any Corning division or new business.
- Projects could include external contacts and contracts.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum M.S. degree in relevant engineering experiences, such as chemistry, material science, or similar.
- ≥5 years’ experience in process/material engineering field. (engineering and/or manufacturing)
Required Skills:
- Experience in process problem solving with basic process tools and methodologies, such as Kaizen, 5s, and Value Stream Mapping, etc.
- Basic analytical skill that able to process data efficiently to provide solutions to problems.
- Has material and/or chemical process experience with some automation and control systems.
- Basic understanding of quality management systems, such as IPQC, and in-process control plans, etc.
- Engineering and manufacturing experience. (international/multi-cultural manufacturing-based project experiences is a plus)
- Association technical fundamentals with basic process engineering and/or integrations.
- Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries.
- Result-orientation and high level of commitment.
- Self-driven ability to catch new technologies/processes quickly.
- Proven technical execution skillsets, including experiment designs, data-collection/analysis, and presentation within project/Eng. team, etc.
- Good English communication skills both verbal and written.
- Capable to collaborate with global team in different time zones.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in designing and practicing process engineering and/or integration as for whole manufacturing.
- DOE practices & understand process fundamentals and recognize deviations and implement trouble-shooting solutions.
- Has experience in running/performing NPI products into manufacturing processes.
- Prefer to know some extended mechanical aptitude/equipment principles and/or experiences.
