Raw Materials Engineer

Under the guidance and direction of Technical Management:

• Provide Process Engineering support to the CHCL and CSCL production lines to establish process capability and pursue stable operational performance.
• Continuously driving process and equipment improvements to achieve the plants’ goals in cost, capacity, delivery and quality.
• Source and validate raw material related suppliers and their raw material based on needs.
• Lead China regional raw material properties study and improvement, including testing method establishment and improvement.

• Incoming raw material quality assurance
  • Collaborate with two plants batch team to build more mature raw material incoming inspection and test procedure to ensure material quality, no impact in production.
  • Take instant investigations whenever material quality issues happened, together with plant batch team, and reflect to vendor if need.
  • Regularly review quality issues with supplier side (EJ, KL or others)
• Support plants’ raw material continuous quality improvement
  • Keep close contacts with KL and EJ batch house on their material properties monitoring.
  • Keep working with local raw material suppliers on their material properties monitoring.
  • Take investigation on raw material quality issues at two plants.
  • Establishing rigorous raw material process control guideline and discipline (determine appropriate data collection, process monitoring, control methods).
  • Daily monitoring raw material COA report monitoring and instant feedback to plants once any abnormalities.
  • Daily lab testing results monitoring and instant feedback to plants once any abnormalities.
  • Develop or improve material shrinkage control system to ensure the prediction accuracy
  • Establish raw material rheology prediction model to better simulate extrusion process stabilities
  • Providing training to plant batch/forming engineers/technicians in raw material related technology to assist them better understanding rheology fundamentals (one of the critical triangle factors).

• Lead or support China regional raw material CR projects
  • develop and advance the raw material technology roadmap, including:
    • project prioritization and resource planning, while expanding capability in areas such as alternative sourcing
    • low-cost material exploration
    • fundamental material understanding
      
      
• Conduct or support plants on new material or new material suppliers’ qualification/validation/management
  • Conduct the assigned new material experimentations and summarize data packages to pass transparency review.
  • Onsite audit suppliers on their quality assurance and control system.
  • Manage quality assurance on the raw material supplied by local suppliers.

• Controlling process variation and making continuous improvements.
• Conducting experimentation to fundamentally understand cause and effect.
• Controlling effective implementation of process or equipment changes.
• Planning, directing, coordinating and/or leading projects to ensure effective implementation – achieving objectives, completed on time and within budget.
• Interacting with Corporate, Division and Plant resources to exchange and transfer new technology of best practices.
• Staying current as a ‘subject matter expert’ in the field of technical expertise.

Plant-wide principles:

• Implementing and enforcing procedures for maintaining a safe work environment.

• • BS/MS degree in Materials or chemical, or rich experience in inorganic raw material filed.
  • 3+ years working experience in manufacturing or lab environment.

  PLUS:

  • Work experience in multi-national companies highly preferred.
  • Ceramic experience preferred.
  • Experience in leading or participating project highly preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience highly preferred.
  • Wide network in inorganic material market extremely preferred.
  • Language – fluent Chinese/English both in oral and written.
  • Process thinking skills – logical problem analysis, decision analysis and understanding and solving problems.
