Position Description                                                                                                         

 

 

Purpose of the Position:

Support the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) function at Corning Research Center China (CRCC) by assisting with chemical management, laboratory safety activities, inspections, data management, and EHS continuous improvement initiatives. The position provides practical exposure to EHS programs within an R&D environment while helping maintain compliance with applicable Corning standards and site requirements.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Chemical Management Support 化学品管理支持

  • Assist in maintaining and updating chemical inventory records.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS).
  • Support periodic review and version control of SDS documents.
  • Assist with chemical labeling compliance checks.
  • Support classification and organization of chemicals according to storage compatibility requirements.
  • Assist with chemical storage area inspections and housekeeping reviews.

Laboratory and Workplace Safety Support 实验室及现场安全支持

  • Participate in routine EHS inspections and workplace observations.
  • Assist in documenting inspection findings and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Support verification of basic safety requirements, including:
  • PPE usage
  • Chemical labeling
  • Emergency eyewash stations

 

 

  • Fire extinguisher conditions
  • Emergency exit accessibility
  • Waste container identification
  • Gas cylinder securing conditions
  • Help collect safety observation data and identify recurring issues or trends.

EHS Data and Documentation Management EHS数据及文件管理

  • Maintain EHS inspection records, action item trackers, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with data collection, consolidation, and preparation of EHS reports.
  • Support document organization, filing, and record retention activities.
  • Assist in maintaining EHS-related databases and spreadsheets.

Education & Experience  

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline.

 

Required Skills                                                

  • Basic understanding of laboratory safety and chemical safety concepts.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both Chinese and English.
  • Willingness to learn and participate in site EHS activities.
