The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

IMS Technical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing our RDE CT systems, while also utilizing DevOps tools and methods to achieve continuous integration and delivery. Working with business leaders and users as well as IT resources to define, develop, implement lab applications.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and implement RDE CT systems, including hardware and software.
  • Perform optimization on existing RDE CT systems to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Leverage DevOps tools and methods, such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, etc., to achieve continuous integration and delivery.
  • Assist the team with daily tasks, providing technical support and resolving technical challenges.
  • Maintain of RDE CT systems and lab PCs to align with IT venerability (Cyber security) requirements.
  • Participate in project management and planning, developing technical roadmaps and guiding the team through technological innovation.
  • Responsibility for effective communication with team members and other departments to ensure that RDE CT system needs, and objectives are understood and met.
  • Responsible for day-to-day IT operations and support business requirements while adhering to global standards and practices, factor in operational simplicity, resiliency, and efficiency into recommendations and delivery.

 

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of IT system or DevOps related work experience.
  • Proficient in Windows and Linux operating system (cloud computing) and commonly used Web development technologies such as Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps tools and methods, with hands-on experience in achieving continuous integration and delivery.
  • Good team player with the ability to work under pressure and solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and document writing ability.
  • Passion for new technologies and methodologies with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Experience with relational and unstructured databases such as SQL Server, Mango DB, etc.
  • Experience with source code management systems  

 

Desired Skills:

  • Expertise in cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, or the Internet of Things.
  • In-depth knowledge of Laboratory/Industry best practices in application development
  • Experience in project management, system architecture design, or team leadership.

  • Ability to continuously prioritize and multitask efficiently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to break down complex technical systems to help business understand the value.
