Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

 

Function/Dept Purpose Statement:

The EHS function is responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving systems, programs, and practices that ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. The team drives compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and company requirements related to occupational health, safety, fire protection, hazardous materials, waste management, and environmental sustainability.

The EHS team supports both site setup/build phase and steady-state operations by embedding a strong safety culture, minimizing operational risk, protecting employees and contractors, and enabling business continuity through proactive risk identification, incident prevention, emergency preparedness, and compliance assurance

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

Responsibilities During Build / Project Phase

  • Support EHS planning for site setup, construction, installation, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Implement and monitor contractor safety management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with onboarding, permit-to-work, toolbox talks, and site supervision requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments for construction, utility, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor safety controls for high-risk work:
  • Partner with Project, Facilities, Engineering, and contractors to integrate EHS into execution plans.
  • Review method statements, JSAs, SOPs, layouts, and designs from an EHS standpoint.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety observations.
  • Support incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, and CAPA implementation.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness during build phase, including:
  • Track project EHS KPIs and prepare reports for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Drive contractor and stakeholder awareness, accountability, and compliance with site EHS standards.

Role during the Steady state-

    • Conduct safety surveys, inspection of work sites
    • Recognize hazards and recommend Corrective Action to eliminate hazard or reduce the risk.
    • Train employees on various safety procedures.
    • Conduct audit to identify areas of improvement.
    • Conduct Incident Investigation and CAPA 
    • Analyze Incidents and devise action plan for improving performance.
    • Conduct reviews of risk assessment/ Job Safety Analysis.

Minimum Requirements:

    • Degree / Diploma in Engineering & Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety with 12-14 years’ experience
    • Formal training for Safety & Risk Management
    • Experience working with CPCB, MPCB, MIDC Fire Department
    • Good Interpersonal & Communication Skill
    • Excellent verbal/written communication skills

Nice to Haves:

Lead Auditor for ISO 14001 /OHSAS 18001. Sound electrical safety background

Experience using Gensuite platform for EHS.
