Role Purpose

The Plant HR Lead partners with the Plant HR Manager to ensure that his/her plant has the right number and type of talent to execute plant strategy and achieve desired business results; ensures plant establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s values; assists in successful implementation of global HR business processes within the plant;  and ensures plant compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

o    Ensures plant has the right number and type of talent required to execute plant strategy and achieve desired business results  
o    Ensures plant realizes required levels of employee productivity and performance excellence required to execute plant strategy and achieve desired business results. 
o    Ensures plant establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as “One Company” in support of Company’s Values.
o    Ensures the successful implementation of global HR business processes within the plant.
o    Ensures plant compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines. 
o    Establishes HR infrastructure for brownfield manufacturing site in alignment with Company policies/procedures/culture
o    Establishes and maintains a presence on the plant floor to keep a read on the pulse of the organization 
o    Proactively identifies and resolves employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that protects the needs of the plant to operate in an effective and efficient manner
o    Manages and mitigates employee grievances by ensuring supervisors and leadership are creating an open forum for discussion and resolution of plant issues
o    Demonstration of leadership and management practices required to establish and maintain a positive work environment
o    Takes ownership for specific HR initiatives that support the effective operations of the organization by developing and/or delivering HR programs.
o    Identifies employee value proposition issues affecting turnover and works with Plant HR Manager to identify actions for improvement
o    Administration of contract labor management and government apprenticeship program.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Full time MBA or Post gradation in HR.
  • 12-15 years work experience in a manufacturing organization in India.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to build trust quickly with employees at multiple levels in the organization
  • Solid technical understanding of HR and ER.
  • Track record of delivering tangible business impact.
  • Strong business acumen – an interest in and ability to learn the business, understand business drivers, etc.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentations)
  • Strong influence skills, experience influencing stakeholders with competing and/or diverging priorities, able to manage in a matrix organization
  • Experience with problem solving and conflict resolution in unionized and Non-unionized work environment.
