The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Scope/Purpose of Position:

The IT Support Specialist will provide technical assistance and support for incoming service requests/incidents related to computer systems, software, hardware, and infrastructure both in-person and remotely. IT Specialist will rely on internal training, previous knowledge, and informed judgment to identify, diagnose, and resolve or route tickets accurately and in accordance with documented processes, and any other duties assigned at the direction of supervisor.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain computer hardware, software, mobile devices/tablets, printers, IP phones and network infrastructures
  • Maintain software updates, install patches, vulnerability remediations of the systems
  • Image and re-image computers using PXE/USB method
  • Resolve technical issues with hardware or software applications or network systems
  • Escalate issues to global IT team as required
  • Ensure that work is carried out within agreed service levels and in accordance with department guidelines
  • Document hardware and software solutions
  • Communicate the status of open requests to stakeholders
  • Partner with other IT groups to define and refine business and functional requirements
  • IT business administration such as IT vendor management
  • Represent technical bridge between technology groups and business engagement
  • Encourage business partners/users to accept standardized technology
  • Help coordination of Global IT initiatives impacting the users
  • Engagement with business users to capture business requirement
  • Provide meeting & event support and maintain Audio/Video Conference devices
  • Provide Smart Hands support for IT infrastructures during and after hours
  • Installations/Mounting of Physical Servers and Networks devices
  • Required to support remote users in the region
  • Provide IT Training & knowledge sharing with the users and team members
  • IT project coordination and deployment
  • Maintain all IT assets in CMDB records accurately
  • Move, add, change, and dispose IT devices & equipment as required
  • Make recommendations for and implement improvement in processes and procedures
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the management

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Candidate must be able to travel domestic for support to other sites and project demand. International travel is possible due to being part of a global team. 

Education Requirements:

 

Work Experience:

  • Three plus years of experience in an IT related field, Previous work experience in a global company is a plus

 

Required Skills:

  • Advanced technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong remote support skills and familiarity with remote support tools
  • Knowledge of PC hardware, peripherals, and related accessories
  • Knowledge of Windows 10, Microsoft certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of Office 365, Cloud storage solutions (OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.), Virtual Collaboration software (Teams, WebEx, Zoom, etc.)
  • Knowledge of conference room audio and display devices
  • Proficient in time management and task prioritization
  • Effective organization and planning skills, and ability to function effectively in stressful circumstances with changing priorities
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • English communication skills in both written and verbal
