Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position.

Support all buying activities for Global Tech Division Engineering (GTDE) through execution of procurement strategies to manage sourcing of quality products, equipment and services.

Major responsibilities and tasks of the position

• Responsible for tactical procurement execution for assigned materials, equipment and services.  Duties include submission of purchase requisitions in SAP, interacting/negotiating with suppliers, leading/executing internal approval processes, monitoring of deliveries, and expediting materials.
• Track turn time on purchase requisitions to meet 2 business day processing time.
• Provide regional purchasing/sourcing support to other teams as needed.
• Submit requests for new vendor adds/changes/updates.
• Protect Intellectual Property (IP).
• Ensure compliance to and champion Corning’s Global Buying Policy.
• Create and maintain contractual documents using the proper internal tools and systems (Supply Agreements, Pricing Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Certificates of Insurance, etc.).
• Primary point of contact for purchase requisition SharePoint site used by GTDE. Duties include training users and site upkeep.
• Primary point of contact for Authorization Matrix updates for GTDE.
• Support Corning’s Global Supply Management (GSM) initiatives as needed through project support.

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.

• Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Field or Supply Chain and min of 1 year Supply Chain or Procurement experience
• Computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Education, training or certification (CPSM,CPIM, etc.) in a supply chain function
• Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems.
• Experience with SAP Ariba.
