Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Plans, schedules, and routes inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments of freight, using knowledge of postal regulations, tariffs, and company policy to support RY campus operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedules with carriers, reconciles freight bills, prepares and negotiates claims, and selects or recommends carriers to ensure efficient, timely, and least expensive movement of goods and material.
  • Conducts research on transportation methods, rates, and routes.
  • Develops programs to audit and monitor carrier rates and charges and evaluates past performance and cost of transportation.
  • Assignments are received in objective oriented terms.
  • Provides guidance to subordinates based on organizational goals and company policy.
  • Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organization s objectives and schedules.
  • Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect subordinate organizational units.Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to organizational policies.
  • Accomplishes results through subordinate supervisors, or specialist employees.
  • Subject to approval, modifies the organizational structure of centralized functions and units.
  • Often responsible for managing a staff function of the company.
  • Responsible for all projects assigned to the organizational unit.
  • Acts as an advisor to subordinate supervision or staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems.
  • Directly participates in establishing and administering many centralized functional projects.
  • Develops and administers budgets, schedules and performance standards.
  • Exerts influence in the development of overall objectives and long range goals of the org.
  • Frequent contacts with equivalent level managers and customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarifications.
  • Conducts briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Business or Supply chain)
  • 5 years of experience in Supply Chain
  • Fluent English
  • Experience in managing a team of supply chain professionals
  • Experience in project management and superior organizational skills
  • Up to 25 % travel tim

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Masters Degree
  • Successful track record of performance in chosen field
  • 8+ years relevant work experience
  • 3+ years supervisory experience; Experience acting as supervisor to other supervisors
