Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Controls Technician I

 

  1. Purpose of Position.   
  1.    Responsible for the maintenance and process control of the connector assembly equipment while providing internal customer service to operators and production supervisors.  Maintain the connector equipment, troubleshoot and correct process and mechanical problems and implement machine and process changes to improve the cable assembly process.                

 

  1. Mention the major responsibilities and tasks of the position.
  1. Prevent and troubleshoot process and mechanical problems on the assembly equipment
  2. Identify root cause of problems related to automated equipment and implement corrective actions
  3. Disassemble equipment as required to repair defective mechanical or electrical parts
  4. Complete all preventive maintenance
  5. Complete all equipment calibration requirements
  6. Maintain a minimum 70 functional pallets on each automation lines at all times
  7. Takes initiative outside of the PM schedule to prevent problems
  8. Keep the assembly equipment organized, clean and safe
  9. Samples and inspects products made and uses equipment/process knowledge to maintain quality standads       
  10. Stop production line when process is not in control.  This action may affect the customer deliveries depending on the time required to troubleshoot and repair production line.

5.    Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.

 

 A. Education.

  • Associate (Technical) degree in a related field.                                                 

 

       B. Work Experience.

  • Specific experience in electrical/mechanical equipment is a plus                                          

 

       C. Additional Skills.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, initiative, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
