Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

The Digital & Information Technology Rotational Development Program (DITRDP) is a two-year, immersive opportunity designed to empower participants to break through limitations and expectations—helping to push Corning, and the world, forward. This program builds technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and provides a robust foundation for impactful careers in IT and digital transformation.  

Participants experience four dynamic 6-month rotations, gaining hands-on exposure across diverse areas such as business operations, manufacturing systems, digital technologies, cybersecurity, and IT services. Each rotation is crafted to deliver meaningful challenges, foster innovation, and deepen critical skills.  

At the conclusion of the program, participants graduate into a landing role within Corning, equipped with strong support systems to drive their success and growth. This includes personalized coaching, leadership development opportunities, and guidance to become mentors for new program participants—building connections and shaping the next generation of innovators.  

  

Responsibilities:  

During the program, participants will:  

  • Collaborate to solve complex challenges: Partner with teams across Corning’s global operations, leveraging diverse perspectives to deliver groundbreaking, digital-first solutions that drive efficiency and business transformation.  

  • Leverage data and technology: Harness data-driven insights and state-of-the-art technologies to enhance operations and inform decision-making.  

  • Enhance IT systems and services: Apply technical standards and principles to develop and maintain application and infrastructure services that align with Corning’s global excellence.  

  • Execute impactful projects: Lead moderate-sized initiatives or contribute to larger-scale projects that advance IT capabilities across Corning’s businesses, driving progress in a way that’s vital to our success.  

  • Build connections: Collaborate across functions and locations, developing relationships that foster innovation, teamwork, and a sense of belonging.  

  

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or Computer Engineering.  

  • Recent graduate (within the last year) with prior internship or co-op experience, preferably in Information Technology.  

  

Required Skills  

  • Fluency in English both spoken & written. 

  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.  

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.  

  • Team player with excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively present information to all levels of the organization.  

  • Able to change and adjust smoothly as the situation demands.  

  

Desired Skills   

  • Demonstrated leadership experience  

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications (i.e., Teams, SharePoint Online, Power BI, Power Automate, etc.).   

  • Experience with creating and maintaining application and infrastructure services.   

  • Project management skills.  

 

Special Requirements  

  • If possible - able to travel globally, with valid passport and visa.  

  

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:  

  • Normal work week 40 hours (Monday – Friday)
